Welcome, I’m Steph!
I live with my husband and 3 beautiful daughters in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. We live in a ranch built in 1993, and we are updating it as we live in it! I love renovating our home, crafting, and cooking. Steph in the Suburbs is the place to find inspiration for your next home DIY project, an easy weeknight dinner, or an idea for your next craft. I share simple and affordable ways to create a home you love spending time in!
I grew up in St. Charles, Missouri. I attended Southeast Missouri State where I received my Bachelor’s of General Studies with an emphasis in Psychology. I have always had a passion for photography, interior design, sewing and cooking. I have recently discovered my love for crocheting. I lived for 1 year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 3 years in Phoenix, Arizona; 1 year in Honolulu, Hawaii, and 6 months in Fernandina Beach, Florida. I loved getting to experience the diverse cultures, foods, and sceneries of these beautiful places. I try to incorporate elements from these travels and experiences into my blogs.
I am currently in the process of getting my photography business, Stephanie Mesler Photography up and running. I have been a hobbyist photographer for the past 20 years, and have done photoshoots for friends and family throughout the years. I also took 3 semesters of black and white film photography and hope to build a darkroom in my basement one day!
Fun Facts About Me:
-I was born with a congenital septal heart defect. I had open heart surgery at 3 months old to repair the defect. I have a large scar (12 inches) in the center of my chest due to this, but I have learned to embrace it and I love it now! I am perfectly healthy now and go every year to my cardiologist for a check up. Any one of my children had about a 5% chance of having the defect as well and they were all born completely healthy!
-I grew up going to a non-denominational Christian Church. However, my husband is Catholic and I am currently going through the process (RCIA) to become a member of the Catholic Church. Since my husband and I did a courthouse wedding, we are planning to receive the sacrament of marriage and will be baptizing all 3 of my girls in the Catholic Church!
I’m so happy you’re here!
